“Neither the life of an individual…
nor the history of a society can be understood without understanding both.”
C. Wright Mills
20th Century American sociologist and professor
The American Story tells of forty five men who have held the office of president (Grover Cleveland served as our twenty-second and twenty-fourth president). They bring with them a myriad of locations – birthplaces, childhood homes, schools, universities, places of commerce or battle, locations of death, monuments, libraries and museums.
Most of these have been preserved by an interested – if not grateful – nation, and watched over by local, county, state, federal, and even family agencies.
These video journeys – “A Nation’s Story: Remembering Our Presidents” – will eventually be personal reflections upon many of these sites, and include all the official libraries, museums, and centers historic areas across America.
